Problem.Professional experience Chiefs guard fire and rescue units (ROP) is at risk for health and life, accompanied by a large number of stress environmental factors (heat, toxic gases, the possibility of explosions, landslides building structures, working at heights, in confined space with a deficit of information and time, etc.) [2]. The difficulty is increased by a certain degree of personal risk, increased responsibility for rescuing people and property, health and life of employees. All this leads primarily to an increase in intensity of labor experts said direction of [1].

Analysis of the research in this area. Given the diversity of points of view regarding the concept of "labor intensity" that exist today in psychological science, in our study we follow the definitions that are most often used in the physiology of labor. Thus, in the scientific development [8] during labor intensity understand the human condition that is caused by quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the structure and intensity of physiological processes that ensure implementation of these activities.

The first attempts to classify work began in the late nineteenth century. to determine the degree of severity. The severity of labor was estimated by the number of mechanical work performed or the amount of energy consumed by man. In turn, efficiency, and energy of the human body were considered exhaustive characteristic severity of labor.

Since the 60 th century., Researchers have attempted to develop a classification of different types of work that would allow to take into account all the factors of the labor process. Thus, A. Neurova identified four main types of mental and nervous and hard work, creative mental work with varying degrees of neuro-emotional stress; moderate mental activity of moderate neuro-emotional stress; moderate mental activity, accompanied by a significant neuro-emotional stress; moderate activity with excessive nervous and emotional stress that is usually nervous and hard work [7].

In 1981, at the Kiev Institute of Labour Hygiene and Occupational Diseases classification was developed by the degree of labor intensity in which intellectual, emotional stress and a number of factors working conditions divided into four classes according to the degree of tension. This classification allowed: to assess the intensity of work of any professional group; development of measures to streamline the work of those who do the work; develop a comprehensive system of preventive measures to prevent adverse changes in the health of workers; develop preventive measures for various professional groups for age, experience and personal characteristics and prioritize in conducting health measures; the ongoing group and individual control of the functional state of the human body in the dynamics of the day, week, month; obtain information about the nature of a business; tailored to suit different types of work in the preparation and placement, to conduct certification jobs. It should be noted that the above classification is concerned primarily civilian occupations.

The problem of studying the labor intensity of extreme representatives of professions has gained relevance only in the late twentieth XXI century. In particular, this issue devoted to scientific papers S. Aleksanina (the analysis of professional rescuers load, hygienic assessment of the severity of their work) [1]; V. Asotskoho (developed predictive model of successful professional activity of rescue units) [2]; G. Hrybenyuka (defined types of stressful situations and related mental conditions that occur with high probability of future rescuers) [3]; S. Mukomel(evaluated psychophysiological cost of basic activities of fire-rescue) [6]; A. Neurova(dependence tensions of stressful factors of military service and military administrators) [7].

It should be noted that more efforts of scientists focused on the study of psychological conditions of professional officers of various power ministries and agencies, military, peacekeepers ranks of fire and rescue units. Today the labor intensity score key management activity within the PRP – Head guard has not been studied, although the implementation of prevention and rehabilitation, improvement of professional selection and allocation of personnel given scientific field seems very important to us.

In this regard,the purpose of the study – to evaluate intensity of labor Chiefs guard PRP.

The main material.Organization study. Achieving this goal consistently carried out in three phases: the first phase – conducted interviews with experts on the author questionnaire to determine the characteristics of professional activity Chiefs guard PRP; the second – conducted a survey of experts (196 Chiefs guard ERP) aimed at determination of the intensity of labor; the third – on the basis of analysis of the characteristics of professional activity Chiefs guard PRP and regulations [1] the classification of their work on indicators of intensity of the work process.

Results. Established that professional activity Chiefs guard ROP - is a complex process that reflects the basic properties of the general phenomenon of particular focus, objectivity, transforming and conscious nature, determinism terms of service. It is in the broadest sense is a form of social activity and a social and political. With this activity carried fire protection facilities, civil protection of the population and territories from emergency situations to help people, rescue work and so on. In general, the content is determined by three components: prevent rescue help.

Today legal documents clearly established a regime of work of experts:

  • - The duration of combat duty – 24 hours;
  • - The number of alternations per month – 10 –11;
  • - Duration of rest between alternation – 1 to 3 days;

As the analysis deliverables, activities Chiefs guard PRP is really very severe. So, involving fire and rescue units during 2013. liquidated 44,568 fires, saved the life of 4110 people (including 351 children) and values for the amount of 963 million. 737 thousand. UAH [4].

In the same year ROP 3985 times involved in emergency response, which averaged 11 visits per day or one visit every 2 hours. 11 min. All of the fire, and emergency situations were eliminated through decisive actions and professional personnel. It should be noted that for courage and bravery, found during emergencies, only in 2013 was awarded 424 workers [4].

An interesting aspect is that unlike many professions in peacetime activity Chiefs guard ROP occurs under a constant threat to life. Thus, in 2013 were 53 accidents with personnel PRP in the line of duty [2].

During this period significantly increased the proportion of accidents that occurred with those officers of PRP (for fire suppression, relief, providing lectures, exercises, sports events, bearing guard duty and the performance of official duties, etc.). There has been 4 accidents with fatal consequences: for fire suppression, bearing guard duty and conduct classes.

It should be noted that due to unfavorable conditions, in healthy people the end of the period formed reaction characteristic pathological functional state of an organism. When the intensity of physical activity it happen morphological, functional and biochemical changes. These changes are not eliminated by making the rest accumulate, which causes acute and chronic overvoltage body that are able to move in the disease.

Results of surveys of experts identified the features of professional activity Chiefs guard PRP are:

  • - High responsibility as a leader for decisions, actions and performance;
  • - Lack of time and lack of proper information needed to organize the response and appropriate action;
  • - Uncertainty problem due to the uniqueness and complexity of spatial orientation in unfamiliar territory;
  • - Continuity of mental stress, caused by systematic work in dangerous environments (high temperature, noise, smoke high density, high humidity, poor visibility, etc.);
  • - Constant threat to life and health (possible collapse of building structures, explosions vapors and gases, etc.);
  • - Emotional and stress disorders (removal of injured people, destruction colleague, etc.);
  • - Significant physical activity arising from high work pace of rescue and fire fighting, demolition of structures, carrying fire-technical equipment over long distances;
  • - Difficulties arising from the need for work in confined spaces (tunnels, underground galleries, pipeline and cable communications);
  • - Unexpected obstacles that hinder the performance of operational tasks;
  • - Uncomfortable situation due to stay in combat clothing and equipment.

Prolonged exposure to these factors often leads to the fact that the chief guard PRP assumed certain errors in their work, which leads to an ineffective division as a whole.

Therefore, unlike many other professions, the activities Chiefs guard PRP is in terms of threat to life and health. The specificity of these professionals is that they are working in extreme conditions, taking management decisions and have no room for error.

For a more detailed and thorough study of the specifics of the experts we conducted a survey directed to select one or more of the key indicators of labor intensity Chiefs guard PRP. These parameters (in the order on our ranking) are:

  • 1. The risk to health and life (according to 84.13% of respondents);
  • 2. Extreme conditions of (76.85%);
  • 3. A large number of duties (69.16%);
  • 4. Significant nervous and mental stress (63.45%);
  • 5. Overtime (57.32%);
  • 6. The degree of responsibility at work (52.24%);
  • 7. Lack estimate of work (45.68%).

As you can see, the labor intensity observed indicators for all subjectivity reflect the specific choice of Chiefs guard PRP.

However, by the above conditions do not exclude that the consequences of a particular professional activity of these professionals can be varied abuse and disease. Thus, according to research [8]:

  • - The main functional impairment while on duty are: fatigue (56%), irritability (20%), headache (19%). Approximately 9% of workers manifested drowsiness, decreased attention back pain. Only 15% have not observed any functional impairment in the process.
  • - Up to 40% of workers suffer from various sleep disorders (difficulty falling asleep, waking early, frequent awakening during the night).
  • - On average 1.4 times a year employees get sick, referring to the doctor, and 3.5 times carry the disease on their feet without issuing sick leave.
  • - The most common chronic diseases are diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (19%), sciatica (17%), cardiovascular system (12%) and diseases of the bronchi and lungs (8%). Other diseases have a lower prevalence (1 to 5%). About 20% mark at the presence of chronic diseases.
  • - Up to 24% of workers are registered on chronic disease. Almost all of them believe that the lost health by working in PRP.

So, based on analysis of the characteristics of professional activity Chiefs guard PRP and "safety classification of work on indicators of harm and danger environment factors, severity and intensity of the work process" [5] we can say that their job is very stressful and conditions relating to the fourth class – dangerous (extreme). That is, the working conditions Chiefs guard PRP characterized by such levels of harmful factors of production environment and labor process, whose influence during the work shift (or part thereof) constitutes a threat to life, a high risk of severe forms of acute occupational injuries.

Conclusions. Analysis of professional responsibilities and workload Chiefs guard PRP provide enough clear idea about the complexity of such occupational activity, and quantitative data on the participation of experts in operational work argue for their large workload professional challenges.

In modern conditions of this profile professional work became much more complex, harder and more dangerous. Work is constantly linked with various technical means, special equipment that promotes fatigue, negative functional states can cause injury. Established that morbidity, disability and mortality Chiefs guard ROP are directly dependent on the conditions, characteristics of performance, character functions.

Thus, professional activity Chiefs guard PRP carried out in high availability mode (standby), and in the extreme conditions of emergency response, characterized by a tension that makes high demands on their level of proficiency, health and psychological personality traits. The results showed that the main factor that destabilizes health professionals is tension work (risk to health and life, extreme conditions, a large number of duties, significant neuro-psychological stress, overtime, the degree of responsibility at work and inadequate estimate of the work).
