The article provides the theoretical grounds for the essence of the notion «economic potential of the enterprise» . The importance of economic potential of enterprise research and the sense of planning its development is widely determined in the article. What’s more, the problem of interaction between the market value of the company and its economic potential is discussed.

Key words: “economic potential of enterprise”, planning, strategy, recourses, effectiveness, market value.

The most important task of strategic planning in a market is to provide the company possibility of achieving the necessary advantage over the other competitors using the most effective means. Businesses and companies which plan and support the high potential of development, as the experience of foreign countries is consistently strong, profitable and respected in the global business community. The firm could set its own long-term competitive development cycle if it grows faster than increases the economic potential of its major competitors.

The r elevance of the chosen topic is due to the fact that under the modern conditions for each subject there is an urgent need for effective management of its economic potential .

The purpose of the work lies in justifying the need for planning the economic potential of the enterprise under the modern conditions of the econom ic development of Ukraine.

A wide range of scientific issues concerning the planning of the economic potential of the enterprise on the theoretical and methodological levels recently received considerable attention by many Ukrainian scientists, namely A. Arefieva, A. Shumanskaya, O. Fedonin, I. Repin, N. Krasnokutskaya, V. Gavva, I. Otenko, P. Drucker, etc [2,3,4,5,6]. However, taking into account the many scientific developments, the problem of planning the economic potential has not received a decent decision and, still remaining a sufficiently studied and methodologically supported, requires further development in both aspects: the scientific and theoretical, and organizational and practical.

Analysis of current economic literature has shown that in practice there is no uniform approach connected with interpretation of the category "economic potential of the enterprise". Particularly acute this problem manifests itself in the operation of trading companies.

After studying a variety of existing approaches to defining the essence of economic potential, we concluded that under the economic potential of modern trade enterprises should understand the unique combination of knowledge, skills and competencies that are aimed to find the most efficient use of resources, reserves and values which the enterprise has in order to ensure its long-term performance and strategic objectives. Economic potential of any company has the greatest impact not only on the final results of all its activities, but also the limits of economic growth and structural development of the entire organization.

The choice of direction or strategy of building an enterprise depends largely on the composition, structure and quality of available economic resources, the competitiveness of the works performed and services, current market situation and future goals, for example, to become a leader, to gain a foothold among the competition, avoiding bankruptcy, etc.

Economic potential of any enterprise is a part of its resources - human, material, financial and other available which organizations have for the planned works and services.

State of the economic potential of the enterprise is characterized by the following factors and indicators:

  • the amount and quality of productive resources, the number of industrial personnel, the composition of fixed assets, the value of circulating capital and inventories, the availability of financial resources and intangible assets, patent, licensing, technology, information;

  • the ability of plant personnel for their professional activity in all areas of production, and at all levels of government, business conditions, the level of the current payment capacity and liquidity, foreign and domestic debt, the degree of creditworthiness;

  • the status of scientific, artistic, rationalization and innovation, the ability to upgrade production and change the existing technology;

  • an information providing marketing, design, production and financial activities, the quality of information used, its degree of validity and reliability.

Considered economic components include a comprehensive characterization of important socio-economic, scientific, technical, financial, investment and many other factors or indicators that allow you to evaluate the economic potential of each company. The degree or level of development potential of the enterprise can be represented by various comparative characteristics of its current state with the appropriate reference (normative) indicators or standards. As a basis of comparison can be drawn global or domestic higher standards, sectoral or regional standards, as well as corporate or on-farm standards. The system of such standards could be the basis for planning and development management capacity of our enterprises, that is very relevant in today's economic instability. It is very difficult to talk that in modern practice, there is an indicator that measures the value of the economic potential of commercial enterprises. Unless you have identified the benefits of using such a measure in the planning of current operations and strategic business development, we will have in mind the overall cost of resources, property and assets of the enterprise while thinking about the economic potential.

In general, the planning of the economic potential of the company includes the following steps:

  1. to assess the structure, dynamics and efficiency of use of productive resources and opportunities for the company, its shares, or positioned in the market;

  2. the competitiveness determination of major products, the company in general and its total capacity;

  3. the analysis of existing production reserves and loss of economic resources in the enterprise;

  4. the selection of the strategy and tactics of the development potential of the enterprise;

  5. planning the development of the company potential in a view of the selected long-term goals and the limited resources available;

  6. implementation of planned activities related to the ensuring economic growth and development of the enterprise potential.

Thus, the increased development of the economic potential essentially reduces to an analysis of its structure, assessment and planning of a large set of factors influence the competitiveness of the enterprise and its place in an active market.

In foreign practice, a whole system of different indicators, which gives a comparative assessment of the development potential of various firms, companies and the national economy are used. The indicator means the totality of the major characteristics of the facility or system, enabling a formalized form to describe the state of their main parameters, chooses the best options for the system at different times and identifies the best ways of its future development.

Planning of the development of economic potential of the enterprise is used according to the following indicators or complex factors:

• the dynamics of the national economy or economic potential;

• the production capacity of the enterprise or industry;

• the dynamics of the internal market;

• the financial condition of the company;

• the human capital or labor capacity;

• the firm prestige, industry or country;

• the availability of productive resources;

• the orientation to the external market;

• innovation and creativity;

• social stability.

Each of these complex factors of production indicator is composed of two or three dozen individual indicators. Therefore, when planning the development of economic potential of the company appears a very difficult task of selecting the most important indicators to evaluate each of the above factors.

After analyzing the above material we can conclude that the main task of modern economic science is to create tools to identify, analyze, and evaluate the economic potential of the enterprise and to develop a system of strategic planning at the enterprise level based on an evaluation of its use.

Conclusion

1. There is uncertainty regarding the interpretation of the category of "economic potential of the enterprise” in the economic literature.

2. The Ukrainian economy has no indicator that would measure the value of the economic potential of the enterprise.

3. Increases the need for planning a magnitude of the economic potential of the enterprise in order to increase the market value of the enterprise.

Prospects for scientific research in this direction lie in the conduct of thorough scientific research and development of indicators, which would give an opportunity to measure the amount of economic potential, which in turn will provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of the value of the company, which in the modern economy of Ukraine is simply not available.
