Interviews Dimitrina Hamze

Dimitrina Hamze
Doctoral Candidate
Plovdiv University named after Paisii Hilendarski, Bulgaria

What is your area of scientific interest? Cognitive linguistics, semantics, pragmatics, the speech acts theory, the theory of comic (with emphasis on the role of grotesque) in cognitive and pragmatic prospect, aesthetics, art criticism.

What research are you working on currently?Currently I am working on a problem of language transformations of the comic (irony, parody, grotesque) in works of Witold Gombrowicz; in future I intend to expand the range of the studied writers, including N. V. Gogol and Ya. Gashek. I would like to probe the hypostasis of their types of comic from the cognitive-pragmatic and ethno-linguistic points of view.

What is your purpose in scientific work? My purpose is to make sciences closer, to erase (at least to relativize) borders between the natural sciences and humanities, to make sciences closer to arts, to prove that there is no original science without imagination, that "pictorialism and image" are at the cornerstone of scientific thinking. It is only difficult to find even the approximate language equivalent for our mental "etudes" or "drawings". Through my scientific work I would like to convince people that the authentic science isn't afraid of emotions, expression and isn't far from esthetics; that these benefits can exist in close symbiosis. Science is not only gnoseology and education, it is also aesthetics, upbringing, empathy, and even healing. In addition, I would like to help people with my science, to consolidate them around the concepts of peace, consent and mutual understanding, to make them better, more thinking, spiritual, creative, and of course - happier, as a result of all this.

What brings you joy in everyday life?Nice, warm conversation, good, benevolent attitude of people, interesting and fruitful ideas, daring dreams.

Could you disclose the contents of the concept of “happiness”? For me it is victory over myself and satisfaction with the fact that my chances were not taken in vain, but brought results.

What is your opinion about the development of the world science in the nearest future? There is huge responsibility on the world science. All sciences will unite and divide their territories being the example for people. It may happen that one science with its noble, altruistic goals protects the mankind from itself; consolidates nations and cultures in their fight against the Lies and the Evil.

In your opinion, can objective understanding of the surrounding reality include scientific and religious principles?Yes, of course. The theologian who would like to understand the phenomenon of science, can't declare the aprioristic border of scientific methodology. In turn, the scientist who would like to take a position concerning theology shouldn't forget that the idea, that the science can explain everything, has not ontological, but methodological nature. The way to creative theological reflection over science is being outlined.

In my opinion, either God created the field of "randomness", as a riddle to solve, as the intellectual challenge for the man, or created all the incredibly complex Universe to push the person to study it in a scientific way. And this is a surprising "travel". As told by ks. Michał Heller(cosmologist, philosopher, theologian): "Science is a marvelous adventure not only for scientists, but also for all the mankind".

Great religions of the world integrate the science with the belief. In the Koran something like this it is written: "Look for knowledge (science) wherever you can, even at the world's end". This means – accept deprivations and adversities for the sake of science...

In what ways does the GISAP project promote your scientific creativity?I am very grateful for the existence of this remarkable project. It is a unique opportunity to discuss and exchange thoughts directly in company of great scientists. In such fruitful environment great ideas are born.

What would you like to wish to organizers and participants of the GISAP project? I sincerely wish them health, future brilliant progress with the project and in the project, impartial attitude towards all participants (as always), future fruitful meetings and activities.
