Identifying social attitudes (personalconstructs) police officers on individual juveniles underlying processes of subjective semantic interpretation of the situation in general and the actual offenses committed by juveniles motifs specific offenses in particular. Social attitudes are the conscious or unconscious regulators of professional police officers and determine the semantic nature of their professional positions in relation to juvenile offenders.
Keywords:multidimensional scaling, personality factors, ranking, juvenile offenders, police, social attitudes, construct.
The aim of our study was to examine social attitudes employees of the Ministry for juvenile offenders. In testing involved 120 police officers who we believe are relevant to juvenile offenders in their careers: 40 - Criminal Police for Minors, 40 - employees of the investigation, 40 - local police officer. Because of preliminary study, we have determined that law enforcement is divided juveniles for their psychological qualities into three categories depending on the severity of the offense:administrative, violent, selfish and violent.
The system settings of the individual in relation to the significant ones for him is his value judgments that are classified consciousness scheme logic dichotomies (pleasant - unpleasant, dangerous - safe, etc.). . In our opinion, this method is very informative to examine social attitudes of law enforcement officers to juvenile offenders. In our case, semantic differential consisted of 54 bipolar psychological scales, which were divided into 3 groups: cognitive, affective and behavioral components (strength, attitude and activity) to 18 each. The police had to choose a side in bipolar dichotomy and appreciate it a 7-point scale (3 to 3, respectively) depending on the severity.
Content, summarizing the psychological variables that are included in the list of factors and called we interpret them based on the content of the psychological scales, which formed its structure and meaning as: 1) "compassion and caring"; 2) "the transformation of relations"; 3) "social support"; 4) "social influence and control"; 5) "multi profession"; 6) "dedication"; 7) "integrity"; 8) "prudence and balance".
Then wewentto check the statistical analysis of the tasks of significant differences in the level of expression of personal factors police officers, differentiated by the criteria of «professional unit" and "professional experience". For this purpose, were calculated factor scores for each selection in the factorization of integral personality variable police officers who subsequently were compared using non-parametric method for directional differences alternatives Kruskal-Wallis Test and non-parametric method for directed alternatives Jonckheere -Terpstra Test.[4,5]
The next stage of the statistical analysis provided a more thorough review of assumptions about the possible effects of two independent variables -factors "area of professional activity" (division, which employs police: criminal police for Children (CPC), investigators, local policeman (LP)) and “experience professional" (small (0 to 3 years), medium (4 to 10 years), large (over 10 years)) law enforcement officers on the dependent variables (personality factors policemen identified during the initial psychological factorization scales). For this purpose, we used two-factor version of the multivariate ANOVA (2 -Way ANOVA) . Thus, if confirmed statistically significant effect of the independent variables or their interaction on the dependent variables (personality factors) can be verified as early predictors of social attitudes of police officers on the individual juvenile offenders.
The next step of the statistical analysis was the identification of social attitudes (personal constructs) police officers on individual juveniles underlying processes of subjective semantic interpretation of the situation in general and the actual offenses committed by juveniles motifs specific offenses in particular. In this case, it is possible to say that social attitudes will act consciously or unconsciously regulators of professional police officers andwill determine semantic nature of their professional positions in relation to juvenile offenders.
Solve this problem prior to the following: police officers staff were asked to rank the integrated personality factors derived from the factorization of the output array of psychological variables on the criterion of the behavior under juvenile offender and the nature of the personal relationship to the particular situation of committing minor offenses. As a result, matrix-ranking results of integrated personal factors police officershad been subjected to mathematical and statistical analysis using multidimensional scaling method [4, 5].
Formally, the main purpose of multidimensional scaling is to identify the structure of the investigated set of objects. Under the structure, in this case, to a set of key factors (scales, criteria constructs), which are different and can be described data objects [4, 5].
The initial data for the analysis is the procedure of subjective judgment study of the difference or similarity of stimuli (objects). The central principle of this method is that the basis of judgment is a limited number of subjective symptoms (constructs criteria) that determine the differences between stimuli and the person bringing their judgments, consciously or unconsciously take into account these criteria. Based on this principle, solve the main problem of multidimensional scaling - reconstruction of psychological space, given a small number of constructs (scales). Thus, the construct is interpreted as a subjective criterion that underlies the differences between stimuli .
The purpose of multidimensional scaling in our study was the explanation of social attitudes (personalconstructs) police officers that underlie the processes of subjective semantic interpretation of the situation in general and the current offenses committed by juveniles motifs specific offenses in particular. It should be noted that the scientific development of the stated problem is very important in terms of predicting success and further optimization of professional police officers.
To achieve this task, we used a model of subjective preferences , the initial data for which was the group results matrix ordering (ranking) every police officer recruitment incentives (integrated personality factors), matching the criterion of the behavior juvenile offender and the nature of the personal relationship to the particular situation of committing minor offenses. This model allowed the group to get psychological space stimuli in the axes of essential features, criteria and placed in the same space ideal points for each subject.
The implementation procedures of mathematical and statistical analysis were obtainedof the two scales optimal solution of the integral personality factors police officers. Results scaling can be interpreted quite clear criteria group benefits the coordinates of objects.
The first scale is represented by two poles factor: factor of "social influence and control", which in its essential characteristics reflecting behavioral component of social and psychological settings policemen, and factor "multi profession" which, by its intrinsic characteristics reflect the cognitive component of social and psychological settings of policemen. This scale determines, in our view, cognitive-behavioral component ready to accept the situation and evaluate the content of offenses committed by juvenile offenders. Displays the tendency of law enforcement officers to act professionally in consideration of the situation of offenses committed juvenile offenders. They use their knowledge and skills to serve as a support for them, inspire confidence encourage. Moreover, restraint of law enforcement officers of their endurance and balance, characterized by the presence of the spirit, fairness and impartiality in decision-making, conflict avoidance, self-control plays an important role in dealing with juvenile offenders. Characterizes police officers as people who are always ready to support attentive to juvenile offenders and true to his word, responsible attitude to their professional duties. In cases involving juvenile offenders with police trying to decide for teenagers or those that will help them in the future.
This scale characterizes the work of police officers is possible to indicate the duties to correct errors committed by other police officers. Justify the desire to improve the working conditions of its effectiveness, maintenance and preventative work with young offenders. It should also specify the following elements that define police officers as servants in work and in interpersonal relationships put certain limits, boundaries, establish certain conditions , not only for others but also for themselves, they are emotionally restrained, faithfully perform the duties assigned to police, dependable people responsible, where you can rely on.
You can make the following assumption that with increasing length of service in law enforcement and the evident willingness of police officers to separate juvenile offenders from society deprived of their connection with possible social groups to which they belonged. The desire to isolate juvenile offenders for offenses they had committed.
The second scale is represented by two poles factor: factor of "social support", which in its essential characteristics reflect the affective component of social and psychological settings police officers, and a factor of "integrity", which in its essential characteristics also determine the affective nature of social and psychological settings of police officers. This scale describes, in our opinion, the emotional component is ready to accept the situation and evaluate the content of the offense committed by juvenile offenders.
Scale describes the commitment, positive attitude police officers to juvenile offenders, assistance in dealing with difficult issues or situations in which they got. Police officers inherent empathy and understanding, sympathetic, compassionate attitude of law enforcement officers to hardship, experiences juvenile is condolences to the situation that has developed, to understand their attitudes, interests, opinions, discomfort. Manifestations of concern can be expressed readiness to assist minors in these tough times of life, compassionate treatment of offenders. Satisfaction of these results is a consequence of the performance of their professional activities.
This study allows noting the following patterns that with increasing length of service of police officers determined equanimity, serenity in dealing with complex issues, rationality, avoiding conflicts by law enforcement agencies, comply with their orders and rules, no worries, doubts, worries.
Ongoing work with criminal elements, and in this case, juveniles, their resistance, contempt and hatred of the police officers holding a staff in constant emotional and physical stress, which results in permanent injury or risk of injury and severe personal responsibility for usespecial events protection or weapons. Professional activities of law enforcement officers: accompanied by numerous stress factors, occurs in extreme conditions associated with the risk to life and health (both physical and mental) requires to have a high level of professionalism, easily and quickly adapt to complex operating environment and react to dangerous circumstances. These special conditions of course have a significant impact on the individual employee and sooner or later lead to the fact that emotionally unbalanced and unstable personality to stress begin to acquire characteristics of emotional burnout: reducing the intensity of emotions, loss of visual sensations and feelings, appearance irritability, increased interpersonal conflicts, negative attitude to business and professional duties, deterioration of physical health, the emergence of substance dependence and so on.
