Psycholinguistic approach to word meaning emphasizes, the critical importance of a theory treating, the mental lexicon as an integral part of human perceptual, cognitive, evaluative-emotional and communicative abilities, as a dynamic functional self-organizing system formed through the acquisition of various kinds and forms of knowledge and structured in the needs of application in possible natural and social situations. An inherently interactive model of speech production was suggested for discussing some specific characteristics of items in the mental lexicon necessary at different steps  in thought shaping. Such items are viewed as the products of  complex multilevel interactions of verbal and non-verbal (mental and corporal) experience stored in one’s memory and simultaneously utilized at different levels of consciousness when a word provides a direct or mediated by inference access to interconnected fragments of a person’s world image. A broad program of experiments was realized including intercultural comparisons.
